How much does telehandler rental cost? Prices per day and week
Short answer: how much does a telehandler cost per day?
Depending on lift height, a fixed telehandler costs around €150 to €280 per day to rent, a roto telehandler around €350 to €650 per day - excluding VAT and transport, guide values from Luibl's rental business, as of 09/2026. With weekly and monthly rental, the daily rate drops significantly.
This guide breaks down prices by machine class, explains all cost factors and works through three typical projects.
Price table: telehandler rental by class
Guide values excluding VAT, transport and attachments:
| Machine class | Day | Week | Month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fixed, up to 7 m lift height | €150-190 | €600-800 | €1,800-2,400 |
| Fixed, up to 14 m | €190-240 | €750-1,000 | €2,200-3,000 |
| Fixed, up to 19 m | €220-280 | €900-1,200 | €2,600-3,500 |
| Roto, 15-26 m | €350-500 | €1,400-2,000 | €4,200-6,000 |
| Roto, 30-39 m | €500-650 | €2,000-2,700 | €6,000-8,000 |

The ranges result from model, load capacity, equipment, season and regional availability. The specific quote for your enquiry is always binding.
These factors determine the rental price
Rental duration
The biggest lever: the daily rate in a monthly rental is often 40-50 % below a single day. Anyone planning a project over several weeks almost always rents more cheaply continuously than in several separate blocks.
Attachments
Pallet forks are usually included. Bucket, winch, lifting hook or work platform are added as a daily flat rate - rented as a package, they are cheaper than ordered individually later.
Transport
Telehandlers are usually delivered by low-loader from Passau. Costs depend on distance and machine weight; Luibl calculates them transparently in the quote using its own fleet. For short assignments, transport can account for a significant share of total costs - an argument for bundled rentals.
Season and availability
Spring to autumn is peak season. Those who use winter dates or book early rent noticeably more cheaply.
Three sample calculations from practice
Roof truss assembly, 3 days, fixed 14 m telehandler: 3 x approx. €220 = approx. €660 plus transport. Note: weekly rental from approx. €750 already pays off from the fourth day.
Facade renovation, 4 weeks, roto 26 m with work platform: 4 x approx. €1,700 plus platform flat rate and transport - well below the price of scaffolding plus a separate crane, with considerably more flexibility.
Agriculture, harvest season over 3 months, fixed 9 m telehandler with bucket: monthly rental approx. €2,000-2,600 plus bucket flat rate - without tying up capital, maintenance and organising periodic inspections for your own machine.
Rent or buy?
A new fixed telehandler is a six-figure investment, used machines are correspondingly lower - plus ongoing costs for maintenance, periodic inspections under Government Regulation No. 378/2001 Coll., insurance and depreciation.
The rule of thumb from rental practice: below about 60-70 % annual utilisation, renting is more economical. And the machine fits the task on every project, instead of the project having to fit the machine you have.
Don't forget: operator qualification
Not included in the rental price, but a prerequisite for use: the required operator qualification in line with applicable Czech safety rules and CSN EN standards, obtained from external recognised providers - for roto machines and for work with a work platform to a correspondingly extended level.
Details: Telehandler operator qualification and Driving licence for telehandlers.

What the rental price includes - and what it doesn't
The daily rate covers the machine, not the project. These items are regularly added:
| Item | Usually included? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Machine, ready for operation and inspected | yes | including valid inspection |
| Pallet forks | usually yes | standard attachment |
| Bucket, winch, lifting hook, work platform | no | daily flat rate per attachment |
| Transport there and back | no | by distance and weight |
| Fuel | no | out full, back full |
| Machine-specific briefing on handover | yes | does not replace operator qualification |
| Insurance / liability reduction | no | optional, see below |
| Cleaning if heavily soiled | no | only if needed |
If you go through this list when making your enquiry, you will get a quote that matches the final invoice.
Insurance, liability and deposit
The machine remains the property of the rental company, but the risk during the rental period lies with the hirer. Three approaches are common:
Your own machinery breakdown or construction equipment insurance. Many construction and agricultural companies have a policy that covers rented equipment. Proof is required before delivery.
Liability reduction via the rental company. For a percentage surcharge on the rent, liability is limited to an excess. Intent, gross negligence, operating errors by unqualified personnel and damage due to overloading usually remain excluded.
Full own liability. The cheapest option in the quote, the most expensive in the event of damage - a damaged telescopic boom quickly runs into five figures.
Regardless of this: damage caused by operation without the required operator qualification under applicable Czech safety rules is practically always excluded from insurance cover. The operator qualification is therefore also an economic question.
Five levers to lower your rental costs
1. Bundle the rental period. Two assignments three days apart are often cheaper as a continuous weekly rental than two daily rentals plus two transports.
2. Combine transports. Renting several machines at the same time means paying for one transport instead of three. For short assignments, this is the largest single item.
3. Book attachments as a package. Buckets ordered later arrive on an extra trip - in a package, they come with the first transport.
4. Plan outside peak season. From late autumn to spring, availability is better and prices are lower.
5. Do not oversize the machine. One class too big costs noticeably more in rental and transport. Conversely, though: choosing too small means repositioning, rework or a second rental day - and then the numbers rarely add up.
Roto or fixed: when the surcharge pays off
A roto telehandler costs roughly twice as much as a fixed model of comparable size. It pays off as soon as one of these conditions applies:
- The machine cannot manoeuvre. In tight courtyards, on sites within existing buildings or with one-sided access, the rotating superstructure replaces every repositioning.
- Loads have to go over obstacles. A roof, a trench, a row of stored materials - the roto works on its outriggers across the obstacle line.
- A crane would be the alternative. With winch and lifting hook, the roto replaces a mobile crane in many cases, including faster set-up time.
- People have to work at height. With a work platform and the appropriate operator qualification, the machine becomes an aerial work platform - one machine instead of two.
If none of this applies, the fixed telehandler is the more economical choice. The comparison Telehandler or wheel loader also shows which machine suits which task.
