An electric scissor lift (also: electric scissor work platform, scissor hoist or battery lift) raises people and material vertically. The name comes from the X-shaped interlocking scissor frame that carries the platform. Unlike articulating or telescopic boom lifts, the platform can only move vertically - which makes the design more compact, more stable and better suited to narrow hall areas.

The drive is provided by low-maintenance lead-acid or lithium-ion batteries. Non-marking tyres prevent abrasion marks on epoxy and industrial floors. All machines in the Luibl rental fleet undergo periodic inspection under Government Regulation No. 378/2001 Coll. and are checked for charge level, hydraulics and emergency stop function before dispatch.

For shell construction sites without paved roads, diesel scissor lifts are the technically correct choice. For everything that takes place in halls, warehouses or on concrete surfaces, the electric version is the safer, cleaner and quieter solution.

Determining the working height correctly

The actual working height is always around 2 m above the platform height (body reach from the guardrail). A scissor lift with a platform height of 10 m allows work up to approx. 12 m.

Calculating load capacity realistically

Rule of thumb in line with applicable Czech safety rules and CSN EN standards: number of persons x 100 kg + tool weight + material weight per work cycle = minimum rated load. CSN EN 280 prohibits any overload. The integrated overload protection automatically blocks lifting.

Compact models such as the Genie GS 1432m E-Drive (6.30 m working height, 0.77 m width, 885 kg dead weight) pass through standard interior doors without alterations.

Operators should be trained in line with applicable Czech safety rules and CSN EN standards. We recommend a documented briefing by a competent person. Before each start-up we recommend a visual and functional check.
