Aerial work platform and construction machinery rental in Olomouc
Anyone renting aerial work platforms and construction machinery in Olomouc faces two sets of requirements that almost completely contradict each other. On one side, a listed historic centre with cobblestone paving, wide squares and facades you are not allowed to drive up to - where low ground pressure and reach over obstacles count. On the other, the food plants and mechanical engineering of the Central Moravian hub, where machines with zero local emissions on finished hall floors are in demand. The same city, two opposing selection criteria.
The historic centre: ground pressure before working height
Around Horni namesti and the other squares of the historic centre, the limiting factor is almost never height, but what the ground and surroundings allow: historic paving, squares with cellars beneath, vaults under courtyards, structures with no reserve for point loads. Heavy chassis and wide outrigger bases are therefore often ruled out.
For work on facades, roofs and lighting, spider lifts with 13.00 to 39.50 m working height are the standard answer: the tracked undercarriage spreads the weight, and the transport width fits through courtyard entrances. On paving and sensitive surfaces, load-spreading plates belong under the outrigger pads - plan material and space for them.
The second tool is up-and-over reach. Articulating boom lifts with 10.89 to 48.15 m reach the working point without standing beneath it: the articulated boom guides the basket over green areas, steps or projecting building parts. Directly on the street, truck-mounted platforms are an alternative because they occupy the traffic area only briefly; indoors - in churches, museums, office buildings, shops - mast lifts with 10.00 to 12.65 m remain the lightest solution.
Work on public land generally requires a special-use permit from the city, interventions in traffic additionally require a temporary traffic arrangement, and in the protected zone of the historic centre coordination with the heritage conservation authority is often needed. These procedures need lead time and are the client's responsibility.
Food production and mechanical engineering: the opposite requirement
A few kilometres further on, the requirements are reversed. In dairies, bakeries, meat and beverage plants, ground pressure hardly matters because industrial floors can bear the load. Instead the rules are: no exhaust fumes, no tyre marks, no contamination risks, and the machine must be cleanable. The standard class here is electric scissor lifts with 6.30 to 33.00 m working height and 227 to 1,000 kg basket load: zero local emissions, with the largest basket area of all classes, and therefore the obvious choice for work on ventilation, refrigeration lines, lighting and sprinklers in hygiene zones. Ask explicitly for non-marking tyres. In the adjoining high-bay warehouses, high-rack scissor lifts with 18.50 to 33.00 m and a narrow track take over the work in the aisles.
In mechanical engineering the same logic applies in milder form: electric indoors, outdoors depending on the ground. On unpaved plant yards, diesel scissor lifts with 9.70 to 34.00 m and up to 1,134 kg basket load are the class with the highest capacity. Two dimensions decide every hall enquiry: stowed height and clear door width - the most common reason for choosing the wrong machine.
The rental fleet in figures
| Class | Working height | Basket capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Scissor lifts electric | 6.30 - 33.00 m | 227 - 1,000 kg |
| Scissor lifts diesel | 9.70 - 34.00 m | 363 - 1,134 kg |
| High-rack scissor lifts | 18.50 - 33.00 m | 450 - 1,000 kg |
| Articulating boom lifts | 10.89 - 48.15 m | 150 - 450 kg |
| Telescopic boom lifts | 14.00 - 56.90 m | 227 - 454 kg |
| Mast lifts | 10.00 - 12.65 m | 200 kg |
| Spider lifts | 13.00 - 39.50 m | 200 - 400 kg |
The greatest working height is provided by telescopic boom lifts with 14.00 to 56.90 m - provided a paved, load-bearing set-up area with room for the outriggers is available. This is exactly where their use in the historic centre regularly fails, while on the plant site it is unproblematic. That is the core of machine selection in Olomouc: not the greatest height wins, but the machine that is permissible at its set-up location.
Telehandlers, excavators and forklifts for projects in Central Moravia
Telehandlers handle material distribution where there is no crane: fixed models with 4.30 to 18.80 m at 1.25 to 25 t load capacity, roto machines with 15.42 to 38.90 m that work all around from one position - in a tight courtyard in the historic centre as well as on a crowded plant yard, this saves every repositioning; inside buildings, electric models with 5.85 to 30.00 m.
Excavators are available from 1.8 to 30 t operating weight; the 1.8 t machine is intended for interior demolition and courtyard sites, the heavy crawler excavators for site development and civil engineering. In addition, forklifts from 3 to 16 t and high-lift pallet trucks with 2.70 to 5.50 m lift height.
Inspection, documentation and operator obligations in the Czech Republic
Every machine is handed over with a valid inspection certificate, CE documentation and operating manual; we keep track of inspection intervals and maintenance history for the entire rental fleet.
Obligations at the site depend on the law of the country of use. In the Czech Republic this is governed by Government Regulation No. 378/2001 Coll., whose annex specifically covers equipment for lifting loads and persons; inspection is carried out according to CSN EN 280, and the legal framework is the Labour Code (No. 262/2006 Coll.) and Act No. 309/2006 Coll. Separate from this are the local permits - special use, temporary traffic arrangement, heritage coordination - which are the client's responsibility. From us you receive the inspected machine with its documentation; you are responsible for the risk assessment, operator instruction and daily checks.
