If you rent aerial work platforms and construction machinery in Teplice, you mostly work in or for the glass industry. The region at the southern foot of the Ore Mountains is a glass-making location with a long tradition, and the rhythm of orders follows not the building weather but the plant cycle: glass melting furnaces run continuously for years, and everything that needs doing on them and on the flue gas and filter technology falls into the planned shutdown. A glass melting furnace is not maintained in passing. Between two furnace campaigns comes the cold repair, and only after the cooling period can work be done on the crown, the lining, burners, regenerators and flues. The requirement is therefore not a single machine but a sequence - dismantling, break-out, rebuilding and relining need different classes. Inside the hall on finished floors, electric scissor lifts are the basis: 6.30 to 33.00 m working height, platform capacities from 227 to 1,000 kg and the largest platform area of all classes - important when break-out material and tools have to go up too. Where indoor and outdoor work alternate, hybrid scissor lifts are the alternative, because the same machine can stay in the yard and in the hall. For cramped platform levels and maintenance walkways, mast lifts with 10.00 to 12.65 m are the only class that fits through standard doors.

Production halls in the glass industry are built high because flue gas ducting, heat recovery and filter technology sit above the plant. Even during a shutdown, the lining and flues give off residual heat for a long time, and the temperature increases towards the top - exactly where the work is done. So clarify in advance whether the work area has cooled down and whether forced ventilation is running.

Platform capacity is the most common planning error in plant maintenance. What matters is not the number of people but the total weight of fitter, protective equipment, cordless tools, cable drum and the component being replaced. Two fitters with this equipment exceed 300 kg; this rules out the 227 kg models. Over pipelines, ducts and filter chambers, articulating boom lifts with 10.89 to 48.15 m offer the up-and-over reach that a scissor lift structurally lacks; outside on chimneys and roof structures, telescopic boom lifts with 14.00 to 56.90 m reach the furthest.

Every machine comes with an inspection record, CE documents and operating manual. Operator obligations on site follow the law of the country of use. For the Czech Republic, this is Government Regulation No. 378/2001 Coll., supplemented by a separate annex for equipment for lifting loads and persons; the basis for inspecting mobile elevating work platforms is CSN EN 280. In addition, the Labour Code (No. 262/2006 Coll.) and Act No. 309/2006 Coll. apply.

Risk assessment and operator instruction remain with the hirer - in glass production extended by the plant's permits for work on the shut-down plant and by requirements on residual heat and length of stay. The daily check for visible defects and function remains the operator's task.
